About Mattlyn
I'm Mattie, I am a boy mom to my beautiful and adventurous sons, Sawyer and Lochlan. I'm also a wife of an amazing husband, Noah, who has always pushed me to go after my dreams.
I wasn't always a planner, but, I have always been described as creative, and a natural born leader... okay, okay, so they called me bossy! I have always been the type to come up with unique solutions to solve problems, and I organize chaos when I walk in the room (So yes, bossy, but nice about it HAHA).
Growing up, my mother was always planning something, She had a big notebook and would plan out vacations, birthday parties, Thanksgiving meals, Christmas traditions and so much more. I really have her to thank for my organization skills and planner's brain!
I went to college at Savannah College of Art and Design and majored in Film and Television, but quickly realized I was not going to pass the drawing courses, so switched to one of the only majors that didn't require drawing: Sound Design. There I learned everything there is to know about sound from building different sounds from scratch, to flying planes over a theatre, to recording on location sounds for films.
Once I graduated, I did some volunteer work for a local Christian station, where I quickly became a supervisor, training several people on the many different aspects of how to run a live television broadcast.
Once I left there, I became a Technical Media Producer for a local news station and assisted in launching their new station.
What got me started...
It wasn't until planning my own wedding that I realized that I really love planning. I mean, I had a huge poster board hung in my living room with all of my "to-do" sticky notes so I could track my planning progress and did a happy dance every time I was able to move a sticky note to the completed section. My wedding turned out beautifully, Now there were a few hiccups along the road, which is to be expected (Especially if your friends and family are some of your vendors!) but, I truly fell in love with wedding planning when I saw my best friend struggling with her own wedding and I was able to step in and help. When I realized how much pressure I was able to take off of her, so she could enjoy her big day, it filled me with pride. During the wedding, the groom came up to me to tell me how great of a job I did and said I should pursue wedding planning as a full time career.
That's when I reached out to several different planners in the area, and Heather from H|A Professional Wedding Planning Services, LLC responded! I was so excited that I was going to get to learn from a pro who has been in this industry for years! The skills I learned and tools I gained are invaluable. Heather is actually the person who pushed me to start my own wedding and event planning company, and well, the rest is history.
So you see, planning weddings isn't about paperwork for me or showing up just being another body at your wedding; this is me showing up and getting a job done Your Way! From the first time we meet until your special day is complete.
So with all of that being said, "You deserve to be celebrated and celebrated you will be" I can't wait for YOUR NEW CHAPTER And I am so excited that you are here!
